Experiment, siah

Do you know that some people cannot stand the smell of smelly beancurd? That stench, as some people would describe, is like rotten leftovers. Yet, smelly beancurd is delicious, this is how I describe it. It is fermented beancurd, deep fried till golden brown and goes very well with a "special" sauce. A common snack in Taiwan night markets. Available in Singapore as well. I have purchased a 'takeaway' box of smelly beandcurd from Lau Pa Sat. Despite using chopsticks, after eating, the smell still lingered on my fingers even though I have washed my hands with soap.

I decided to do an experiment. The aim is to find out whether animals "like" the smell of smelly beancurd.

Do you know whether hamsters like the smell of smelly beancurd?
I decided to try out on my three hammies.

The results of my experiment are as following.

(Aayden, ~ 2years)

[Scene 1]
Aayden (~2 years old)
Aayden had climbed up the cage to greet me. As he came nearer, I stick out my finger to touch his nose. Next instance, Aayden fell backwards and landed onto his bathtub with a thud!! That was a soft landing, considering that the bathtub was filled with sand. Aayden got up, turned his body and scampered off. He did not turn back to look at me.

(Maggie and Jerry, +8 months)

[Scene 2]
Maggie (+8 months old)
Maggie was gnawing the cage. Maggie stopped to sniff the air. Good girl, she sensed that I was nearby and came to me. I stick out by finger to touch her nose. Next instance, she turned around and scampered into the direction of her house.

[Scene 3]
Jerry (+8 months old)
Jerry was gnawing the cage. As he came nearer to me, I stick out my finger to touch his nose. Jerry sniffed at my finger for at least 5 seconds. He paused. He did not move. I guess he was stunned momentarily. I decided to lift my finger and watch Jerry. He was still sniffing the air even though I have long lifted my finger. After I walked away, I saw that Jerry still has not moved.

[Conclusion]
My three hammies ( known as J.A.M.) did not enjoy the smell of smelly beancurd. If they could talk, they would probably be cursing and swearing at me " TMD... ...What the... ...Fxxx !!... ... is going on... ..."
(Edit: no animals were tortured, threatened, scolded or mutilated during the experiment mentioned above which lasted 4 minutes.)
