I will accept that SMRT won the international award for "Best Passenger Experience 2008", but with reservations.
Of course, when reporters and VIPs are invited to take the train, everyone was smiling. Everyone had a seat. The cabin was roomy and the air was good.
In contrast, everyone was squeezed side by side. Packed like sardines during peak hours, in the mornings from 7.30am to 9.00am; in the evenings from 5.30pm to 8.30pm. You can give the train a miss and wait for the next available one.
No need to compare with other countries, reasons being there will always be room for improvement.
As SMRT won again for the "Most Customer-Friendly Transport" award, presented by Singapore's Land Transport Authority, I have some other viewpoint.
By now, the feeling would be neutral, if not, numb.
