“Can I slap my friend?”
“Why?”
“Because my friend was talking to my boyfriend.”
“No!!!”
“Then can I slap MHA minister?”
“No !!!!!!!!!!!!”
“Oops, I was only kidding.”
Is it acceptable to hit another person in public? And be let off with only a stern warning?
My customers asked me this question one day. She was referring to the case whereby a local tycoon's wife slapped an SQ air stewardess on one of the flights to Tokyo, after discovering that the air stewardess was talking to her husband. The air stewardess sued the tycoon's wife for causing “emotional and mental distress” as a result of the 'wrongful assault and battery' as well as for defamation. The matter has since been settled out of court and the tycoon's wife was let off with a stern warning.
Jealousy is a SIN. (Pardon the pun here.)
The entire saga may have been shielded from the eyes of the public, whatever it is, I drove home the point to my customers that is it not acceptable to cause physical hurt to another person. That is considered bullying. The culprit should be punished.
It is wrong to hit another person, moreover the person being slapped was carrying out her duty.
Michael Jackson has sung about it. Listen to the lyrics carefully, it is likely to make you laugh. But as I have mentioned previously, some things in life are laughable. But they may not be joyous.
So do what you can, just beat it.
It does not matter who has the right,
Just beat it.
Show them who's funky,
Show them who's got the right,
Just beat it.

You can slap a person if you can pay the price.
The air stewardess accepts the price which the tycoon's wife can afford.
