There is this thingy about leaving your signature on your credit card.
I refused to sign on my plastics, and I have ample reasons to justify this.
Should I lose my cards and they are picked up by crooks, he/she would have gone on a shopping spree, with compliments of the easily available signature shown on the back of my card.
I conveyed this message to the staff at Takashimaya the other day while making payment. The cashier insisted that I signed on the card, to which I threw the above mentioned scenario to her. She nodded as she listened, or was it she listened as she nodded. I paused and asked her did my justification made any sense to her. This was her (standard) reply:
“Mdm, please sign on your card, it is the XX policy.” Please sign (sigh).
She relayed the credit card company's policies to me. I am not saying that the credit card company's policy is wrong. Just that I am not convinced. Anything that is not convincing, I won't entertain.
Sign on the back of my credit cards? I don't have time for that.

hello Lin,
I didn't sign on my card since last year and have no problem getting payment through, either at Petrol Kiosk, Department stores, shops, everywhere.
However, the advice I got is this. If your card is stolen, the thief could just sign on the card any signature he fancy and used it to purchase any items with his signature and this would be recognised. If that happens, your claim against the vendor will be limited by it.
Anyway... someone added me to MSN via xbox... coincidentally.. also called Lin... is that you?!?!??!?!?!?!?
Haelloo moomooman,
Strange, after that incident, I
have no problem paying with my
credit cards.
Btw, what is your MSN, hah...? ;p
Funny thing is that... the name is (r)Lin(r)?!?!?!?!?!?!?
