Is it so important to put much emphasis on naming your child?
Of course.
Mine, O.W.L., for sure, is easy to remember.
Over Worked Lady.
No wonder I am always buried under work.
Ohh, Wah Lao...
Then, Maisie, whose surname is Wang,
ends up being Maisie-Wang (Chinese 没希望; hopeless) for the rest of her life.
Then, there is Mr Soh, who has decided to name his son O.B., his son
ends up being S.O.B (Son Of Bitch).
Whereas Shan Shan, whose surname is Ang,
ends up being A.S.S. for the rest of her life.
Kathlyn, whose surname is Ong,
ends up K.O. (K.O. game over)
As a journalist in today's papers (The Sunday Times) puts it, someone whom he knows is nearly named Zachary.
Poor Zachary, he would have ended up eating curry all his life (Hokkien: Jiak Curry).
So you see, at the end of the day, it does make sense for parents to put in much more effort to name their offsprings well.

Hi, what is your name?
What is in a name?
Long before you were born, you parents or even perhaps grandparents will be thrilled to embark on the mission of giving an appropriate name.
Some of them will consider the almanac, and hope that the name will bring you good luck.
Then, you have to consider the abbreviations and try not to sound horny, if not, unauspicious.
