At Aoba

Pork cheek Ramen

Still on the hunt for the "perfect" Ramen...

I ordered Pork Cheek ramen $16.80 from the Ion outlet.

The latest Aoba outlet

opens at Vivocity.

Also available at Tampines One.

The pork cheek came sliced too thinly. It does not melt-in-the-mouth,
at times, too lean. You see, a good pork cheek should have a good balance
(marbling) of fats.
I thought they taste tough.

Ramen was springy, good consistency. A bit chewy.

The shoyu soup taste, well, too salty. I left 75% of the soup unfinished.

Would be better if they provide better quality fried garlic. I added the garlic to my bowl of ramen, and was surprised that it was not fragrant.

My comfort came when the beverage menu lists "Yuzu" drink, $3.80 .

Yes, Yuzu, the Japanese lemon that when mixed with honey, soothes one's throat.

Very refreshing indeed.
Service at Aoba was attentive, polite, and happy smiling faces. Did I mention that
the waitresses are very pretty, Hong Kong Actress Gigi Leung look alike. The other
looks like Angelina Jolie. One of the waiters looks like Hong Kong actor Nicholas Tse.
